About M.Sc Mental Health Nursing
Swaminarayan University has a mental health research program that focuses on developing special nursing professionals equipped to provide broad psychiatric care. The program integrates clinical knowledge, medical communication and spokesman for mental health to meet the increasing requirement for dignified psychiatric nurses.
Students gain intensive understanding of psychiatric disorders, psychiatry, evaluation of mental health, crisis interventions and psychiatry. Clinical training is carried out in psychiatric hospitals, mental health clinics and rehabilitation centers to ensure practical risk of various mental health conditions.
Graduates are designed for roles such as psychiatry nurse experts, mental health care counselors, nursing teachers and mental health officers. The program also provides a basis for doctoral research and professional certificates in psychiatric nursing in India and abroad.
Swaminarayan University offers an academic and clinical environment supported by specialized faculties, simulation laboratories for mental health and strong institutional partnerships. The course is in accordance with standards for Nursing Council of India (INC) and promotes general mental health care, research and leadership
Program Duration
M.Sc. in Mental Health Nursing is a 2-year full-time postgraduate program consisting of 4 semesters, structured according to Indian Nursing Council (INC) and university guidelines. The course includes advanced theoretical instruction, clinical psychiatry rotations, research projects, and dissertation work.
Curriculum

1. Candidate must have completed B.Sc. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized INC-approved institution.
2. A minimum of 55% aggregate marks is required (50% for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per norms).
3. Must be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife (RNRM) with any State Nursing Council in India.
4. One year of clinical or teaching experience after B.Sc. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing is mandatory.
a) The applicant must be medically fit to undertake psychiatric nursing practice.
b) Submission of valid nursing registration and work experience certificates is required.
c) Admission is based on university entrance tests and/or merit as per institutional policy.
